CALL FOR BYLAW AMENDMENTS FROM
MEMBERS FOR UPCOMING AGM!
On November 26, 2019, after much discussion, the membership of the Dunnville Chamber voted to accept a new set of by-laws which were drafted in response to membership concerns that derailed efforts to hold the Chambers 2019 AGM back in March of 2019.
Membership approval of the draft by-laws was only achieved after the removal of one sub-section of the presented draft by-laws in its entirety, and a commitment that the current board immediately strike a Bylaw and Governance Committee to:
Oversee the implementation of the new by-laws
Draft operating procedures and supporting tools for receiving and amending by-laws in accordance with the recently approved by-laws
Receiving further feedback and amendment proposals from the membership
Preparing a draft slate of bylaw amendments to be presented to the membership for consideration as part of the agenda of the 2019 AGM which is scheduled to be held on March 26, 2020, which once adjourned, will see the 2020 AGM called to order immediately after, the agenda of which will include the election of the of the first board under the new by-laws.
The Bylaw and Governance Committee has been working on the feedback and suggestions they received from members who were present at the November meeting. The committee is excited to announce that, in accordance with Article 10.01-a of the recently approved Chamber By-laws, they are now accepting additional motions to amend the current bylaws from the membership.
Key dates that are important to this opportunity to propose amendments to the bylaws include:
1. February 3rd – Call for motions to amend bylaws opens
Open to any 2019 and/or 2020 Member in Good Standing of the Chamber as defined in Article 3.02,
All submissions must be presented on a signed “By-law Appendment Notice of Motion Form” (see link below),
Properly completed and signed “By-law Appendment Notice of Motion Form” for each proposed change, must be emailed as a JPG, Scan, or saved version of the PDF form with your signature to the email@example.com by 4pm on February 18th.
2. February 18th – Call for motions to amend bylaws closes,
3. March 6th – Slate of proposed bylaw amendments to be considered & communicated to membership,
4. March 26th – 2019 & 2020 AGMs to be held
