Thunder on the Grand was a long standing tradition in Dunnville for over 60 years. The Dunnville Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with TORC (Toronto Outboard Racing Club) is proud and very excited to announce that this event is back, and with your support, will be better than ever!

The Dunnville Boat Club had been involved in in this event and did a great job promoting & staging this venue. Many of our local businesses sponsored and helped for many years: Harley Brown Arcade, Siddall Fisheries, Roy Werner, Frank Dashwood, Bray Chicks (owned by Tom  Toohey), Roy Hunter of Hunters Dressed Meats, and Wallace Franklin who sold championship racing engines, to name a few.

The racers were many and a number of them were local: Wayne Siddall, Bob Glenney, Walter Ollenbittle, Mike & Jim Toohey, & Tom Hindle who also owned Dunnville Boat Works. Leroy & Mike Werner were very successful racers. Mike Werner’s crew, which included Gord McLeod (of Riverside Marina) & Doug Jackson, continued to win for many seasons. Mike’s family tradition still continues in racing as his son Mike is now involved.

Mike Sr. has kindly taken the position of Chairman alongside co-chair Carolyn Chymko to stage the races.

Thank you to all the volunteers and sponsors of this  event!

Proceeds from this event will go toward the 150th celebration and Mudcat Festival.
